Tidbits of Modern Magick
"...Witches do not worship Satan in any way. They do not even acknowledge that Satan exists." (Donald Kraig)
"Talismans are used to draw things toward you. Their purposes include obtaining money, luck, health or love. Amulets are used to keep things away. They protect from evil or bad luck, and help keep one from ill health." (Donald Kraig, Modern Magick, Lesson 7, p 303)

Evocative Magick allows you... "to communicate with other intelligences, powers or entities which do not exist on our physical plane." In contrast, "Invocation is the magickal act wherein you allow your body to be temporarily shared by another entity. This is sometimes known as channeling." (Donald Kraig, Modern Magick, Lesson 9, pgs 376-377)

Yoga is Union, especially a union between a person and divinity. Kundalini Yoga is the alleged method of exciting the Kundalini energy at the base of the spine and causing it to rise up to the head, bringing enlightenment. Layayoga (pronounced "Lie" Yoga) uses breath and visualization to recreate the changes that the physical and spiritual bodies go through during sexual activity. This is usually presented as an allegory of causing the Kundalini energy to rise. It is the source idea for Kundalini Yoga. (Modern Magick, Appendix four)

"Fortune-telling says that something must happen. Divination indicates what will probably happen if you continue on the path you are currently traversing." (Modern Magick, Lesson One, question #8)

"Sitting shivah is the Jewish practice of staying in the home for a week after the death of a member of the household. It is based on the Kabalistic idea that a soul will move from the grave to the home for a week before it realizes that it has died. This is especially the case in situations of sudden death." (Donald Kraig, Modern Magick, Lesson Five, question #7)

The Four Elements

"Earth represents the solid, stable, and enduring [human psyche: sensory perception]; water, the receptive, responsive, and fluid; air, the mediating, pervading, and embracing; fire, the active, energizing, and transforming; and spirit as the transcendent, the factor that influences the system of elements from another level."

"In the human psyche... earth appears as sensory perception, water as feeling (...both emotion and intuition), air as intellect, fire as will, and spirit as awareness itself."

"In society... earth is expressed by the producers of useful goods and services; water by the artists, poets, and performers; air by the scientists, scholars, and teachers; fire by the politicians and soldiers; and spirit as the priests, priestesses, mystics, and occultists."

"In modern physics... earth appears as the solid state of matter, water as the liquid state, air as the gaseous state, fire as energy, and spirit as the underlying fabric of space-time." (John Michael Greer, Encyclopedia of the Occult)

"The circle or Wheel answereth to the all-pervading Spirit: The laborious Ox is the symbol of Earth; the Lion is the vehemence of Fire; the Eagle, the Water flying aloft as with wings when she is vaporized by the force of heat: the Man is the Air, subtle and thoughtful, penetrating hidden things." (Regardie, Golden Dawn, Pentagram Ritual)

"The spirits [elementals] of Earth are Gnomes, of Air are Sylphs, of Water are Undines, and of Fire are Salamanders. They are unique because normally on the physical plane everything is a combination of elements, but the elemental spirits are totally composed of only one element." (Donald Kraig, Modern Magick, Lesson Nine, question #11)

The 10th Sephiroth is... "the world wherein the four elements, and hence the physical universe, exist..." (Kraig)

All of us and everything are connected.

"To judge a person only on their appearance is nothing less than vicious and cruel. It turns people who don't match the norm into sad, unfulfilled and lonely people. And since most of appearance is a gift of birth, it is clearly but a step away from racism."
(Donald Kraig, Modern Magick, Lesson Ten, p. 459)
